As Legendary Spyro, his scales where blue, and all that was orange was now gold. As Dark Spyro all his purple scales where now black, and his horns, dorsal plates, wings and tail bit where silver. His whole colorscheme has change for his Dark and Legendary counterparts. In series three his horns where longer and more curved and the portion at the end of his tail was a slightly different size and shape. In series two he had red armor on his wings that had one visible diamond on each on. He also has two wings with purple frames and orange webbing. He had three toes on each of his four paws with silver talons. He has an orange arrow-like formation at the tip of his tail and orange dorsal plates. His head also has two short, curved, orange horns. He has red eyes that seem to indent into his face. He has a short snout which has two nostrals and he appears to have four visible fangs in his mouth.
Spyro is a male dragon with purple scales and an orange underbelly. Spyro was eventually finished with a slightly changed design that would soon be in the original Skylanders. Spyro's move set was also inspired by his original move set from the Spyro's Kingdom series. Spyro was one of the four Skylanders to first be introduced the the Legends of Spyro series. In Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Nat Loh was given the task of bringing Spyro to life. It also allowed them to bring back the characters but also leave no time to give any back stories. This allowed the team to reintroduce the two characters in a way that was very fitting for the Skylanders universe. The end of the Legend of Spyro series left both Spyro and Cynder in a place that was left on a mystery. So they replace Fire Dragon with Spyro and he would go out on many adventures.ĭuring the development of the Skylanders universe, it was important for Toys for Bob to establish a new league of heroes, but also to honor the history of Spyro and Cynder. While he was originally going to be an npc, it didn't feel right to make a game called "Spyro's Kingdom", without Spyro as a playable character. Spyro was going to be the King of Spyro's Kingdom and you would go to him for quests. When the original concept of Spyro's Kingdom was on the underway, Toys for Bob originally had a character name "Fire Dragon" who was one of the playable heroes. Eventually the toys-to-life idea for Spyro's Kingdom came. They tried doing a "Realistic, gritty Spyro", a "tiny Spyro", and an "Origami Spyro". While looking for new ideas for the Spyro the Dragon, Activision and Toys for Bob tried multible concepts for the game.
